Please complete the course prior to this date to receive your certificate.
The program will consist of a live two-day educational session or a 15-session webinar with required assignments. Sessions will consist of an overview of infection control and antibiotic stewardship which includes CMS requirements for long term/post-acute care. Core elements of an infection control/prevention program, policies, procedures, qualifications and training for IP are included as the foundation. Practical skills are necessary to be an effective infection preventionist in long term care due to the population it serves. The infection preventionist will gain knowledge on regulatory agencies and how the landscape is changing within LTC regarding healthcare associated infections. Types of infections, modes of transmission and recognizing factors that contribute to infection risks will be discussed. Standard precautions, appropriate personal protective equipment, isolation, testing procedures are among skills/ education needed by the IP expert.
Requirements:
This course is approved for 24 contact hours when completed and submitted in its entirety.
Participants must view all fifteen webinars.
Participants must pass all 15 post-tests with 80% or better and complete/submit an overall evaluation.
In addition, the participants of the enduring program must submit all assignments and they must be accepted. Enduring program must be completed prior to July 1, 2026

Upon completion a certificate of Infection Prevention and Control Certificate of Mastery Program will be awarded with appropriate contact hours. Participants may then take the certification exam.
