Join us for a conversation regarding Long COVID. A panel of 4 pharmacists will discuss what it is, and how it presents in Long-Term Residents. The impact on residents and families as well as the challenges both clinical and operational for the facility will be explored.

    • Explain what Long COVID is, including common terminology (e.g., post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection).

    • Highlight its duration, variability, and evolving clinical understanding.

  • Describe Clinical Presentation in Long-Term Care Residents

    • Identify common symptoms in older adults.

    • Discuss how symptoms may overlap with or mimic other geriatric conditions.

  • Outline Assessment and Diagnosis Strategies

    • Review tools and approaches for identifying Long COVID in residents.

    • Emphasize interdisciplinary collaboration and documentation of symptom patterns.

  • Examine the Impact on Residents and Facilities

    • Discuss physical, cognitive, and psychosocial effects on residents.

    • Address implications for staffing, care planning, and resource allocation.

  • Identify Clinical and Operational Challenges

    • Explore barriers to diagnosis, treatment, and care coordination.

    • Consider the impact on infection control, rehabilitation, and behavioral health services.
