Class #1 Role of the LPN. In this session we discuss the LPN role vs the RN role, the Nurse Practice Act and how it differs from state to state. We also review detailed and comprehensive documentation, provide sample tools, and discuss the LPN role in teaching and collecting resident data.
Class #2 Medical Conditions. This entire class is focused on reviewing several common medical conditions in older adults including cardiac, arthritis, conditions of the eye, diabetes, gastrointestinal and sleep disorders.
Class #3 covers Alzheimer’s disease vs dementia and discusses the various types of dementia. We also review falls and interventions, as well as cover several slides on Abuse and Neglect.
Class #4 ‘s session is about medication administration, death and dying, skin and wounds, and resident assessments. In this class we cover the 10 rights of medication administration, skin and wounds, and we give some suggested recommendations on dealing with death and dying.
Class #5 covers Legal issues and time management. We cover Libel, Liability and Torts. We also discuss HIPPA and discuss monitoring staff as well as examples of time management.
The final class is Class #6. In this class the focus is on understanding and caring for residents with different cultures, caring for veterans, and understanding the acronyms used in the LGBTQ community and providing care for this population as well as resident rights.
Upon completion a certificate will be awarded with the appropriate contact hours. Participants may then take the certification exam.

This course, like our other NADONA courses, is a self-study self-paced course. There are webinars to be listened to, quizzes to be taken, and homework (discussion questions and assignments) to be written and submitted. An instructor will review all the homework and provide oral quizzes if there is a failure to pass after 2 tries. This course is a prerequisite for the Staff Development Coordinator Certification Exam.

This nursing continuing professional development activity was approved by the Wisconsin Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. WICEAP-0590
Participants must view all twelve webinars.
Participants must pass all 12 post-tests with 80% or better and complete/submit an overall evaluation.
In addition, the participants of the enduring program must submit all assignments and they must be accepted. Enduring program must be completed prior to June 16th, 2027
No one with the ability to control content of this activity has a relevant financial relationship with an ineligible company.
Upon completion a certificate of QA&A / Quality Assurance and Process Improvement (QAPI) Certificate of Mastery Course will be awarded with appropriate contact hours. Participants may then take the certification exam if desired.

NADONA Memorial Scholarships
The NADONA Memorial Scholarships honor the legacy of our past employees and Board Members. These scholarships are awarded to nursing students currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program who are committed to pursuing a career in long-term care or assisted living after graduation.
Eligible applicants include both undergraduate and graduate nursing students. Additionally, scholarships are available for those seeking to enhance their leadership skills through the Nurse Leadership Training and Prep Course, which prepares nurse leaders for the CDONA Certification exam.
Deadline has ended – New submissions will begin again on January 1, 2026.

By donating to this scholarship fund, you help in honoring the memory of a life dedicated to LTC care while aiding in the education of the future of LTC care.
This scholarship will be open to any employee of a Texas LTC facility, who wishes to pursue or continue to pursue a nursing career.
