Infection Prevention and Control Certificate of Mastery Program (IPAC)

IPAC IS A PREREQUISITE COURSE FOR THE IP-BC CERTIFICATION EXAM (15 Session)

The IPAC Program is a Certificate of Mastery Program that yields an official certificate and 24 contact hours (online).  Awarded contact hours are in nursing.

The program is a prerequisite to be eligible to sit for the NADONA Infection Preventionist Board Certification. The IPAC program is designed to cover all the components of a well-rounded Infection Control Program and the role of the Infection Preventionist.

The IPAC Program is offered online and in person site trainings. Courses are available at any time and are 15 sessions per webinar (24 contact hours). A 2- day onsite training with 15 contact hours for nurses is available. Please call Cindy Fronning to discuss setting up a class. A Certificate of Mastery is awarded at the time of completion but no credentials or designations. In order to earn a credential/designation, healthcare professionals must sit for the official Infection Prevention Board Certification (IP-BC).

The IPAC program was specifically designed to meet the new regulations regarding Infection Control and the Infection Preventionist. The content covered in the IPAC program includes the following:

  • Overview of Infection Control and Antibiotic Stewardship

  • Infection Control Program Components

  • Role of the Infection Control Preventionist

  • Healthcare Associated Infections & Regulatory Agencies

  • Pathogens and Infections

  • Hand Hygiene

  • Transmission

  • Environment / Disinfection

  • Resident Equipment& Outbreak Investigations

  • PPE

  • Isolation Precautions

  • Safe Injection Practices / Risk Assessment

  • Health Programs & Staff Training

  • Antibiotic Stewardship

  • Opportunities in Infection Control
