As a graduate of a three year Diploma Nursing Program, Amanda has been a Registered Nurse for 30+ years and has spent the last 26 years serving in Long Term Care, which is her passion. She has been a member of NADONA and NCDONA for 15+ years. While this organization has brought her GREAT support as a DON, it has also provided her with many opportunities including serving, mentoring, education, networking and so many more. Through her affiliation with NADONA, she has obtained her CDONA-Certified Director of Nursing Administration, FACDONA-Fellows Academy Certified Director of Nursing Administration, GDCN-Geriatric Diabetic Certified Nurse, CDP-Certified Dementia Practitioner, CADDCT-Certified Alzhiemers Dementia Disease Care Trainer, CALN-Certified Assisted Living Nurse, and IP-BC-Infection Preventionist-Board Certified. She has served NCDONA in many capacities including Conference Planning Committee, Board Member, Trustee, Vice President, President and now Executive Director. She also serves on the National Board as Recording Secretary. She was selected as Nurse Administrator of the year for the SouthEast Region in 2011 and National Nurse Administrator in 2013.
Amanda is the Director of Nursing at Salemtowne, a CCRC-Continuing Care Retirement Community in Winston-Salem, N.C. and has been there for 8 years. Prior to this, she served as a Staff Development Coordinator, Assistant Director of Nursing, Director of Nursing and Nurse Consultant at various facilities in N.C.
