Pain, Pills and Best Practices: Optimizing Opioid Use in Long Term Care: Eliminating Survey Pains

Pain, Pills and Best Practices: Optimizing Opioid Use in Long Term Care: Eliminating Survey Pains

Thursday, June 23, 2022
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM EDT

The Opioid Epidemic rages on. Today’s LTC operator contends with balancing effective resident pain management against goals of reducing opioid adverse events, abuse, misuse and diversion. Nursing Home residents and the LTC setting are particularly susceptible to these issues, and today’s COVID-19 pandemic sees clinical attention and oversight pulled in other directions. In this fourth webinar of the Partners in Nurse Advancement Series, NADONA and PharMerica presenters will realign our focus to opioids to address F-Tags for opioid use deficiencies, pain management standards of practice to overcome challenges in meeting regulatory requirements, and identify opportunities to shore up the controlled substance chain of custody.
Key Learnings:
1. Discuss the opioid crisis and opioid prevalence across the LTC industry
2. Identify F-Tags associated with pain management and opioid use deficiencies
3. Describe person-centered standards of practice for pain management in LTC
4. Describe challenges in meeting regulatory requirements
5. Identify red flags for weak links in the chain of custody

Kishore “Josh” Bose, PharmD, RPh, Manager of Clinical Services, PharMerica
