To be eligible to take the Certified Director of Nursing Exam (CDONA™), you must have a current RN license and
have one year of experience as a DON in long-term care. This prep course does not include the exam.
This program will cover the relationship the Nurse Leader has with the Administrator and how to communicate within the partnership. A review of the regulatory changes in ‘17 and ‘19 will be held. Nursing department budgets will be discussed with hands on practice of developing a staffing model used in budgeting. This program will also cover how the facility is reimbursed and the role of the Nurse Leader in culture change, QAPI and survey. It outlines the responsibilities of the DON role. This course will prepare the Nurse Leader totake the CDONA™ board certification exam.

This program will provide participants the opportunity to earn up to 15 nurse contact hours. HCAM is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Wisconsin Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
