In 2016, the staggered implementation of significantly revised federal regulations governing nursing facilities was begun. This presentation, given by the former Chief Nurse of the Maryland state survey agency, will examine the clinical, regulatory and operational impact that these regulations have had on medication management in nursing facilities since they became effective on November 28, 2016. Deficiency data generated since the phase 1 implementation of the regulations will be analyzed for trends and patterns. Guidance related to regulations scheduled to become effective in November of 2017 (phase2) will also be provided.
