CDC Guidance for an Influenza Outbreak
Residents of long-term care facilities can experience severe and fatal illness during influenza outbreaks. Offering the influenza vaccine is only one step in preventing this from happening. To help you develop a full influenza plan, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has published guidance specific to long term care settings. Obtain these expert recommendations and share with your team so that everyone is ready in the event that influenza enters your doors: http://www.cdc.gov/flu/professionals/infectioncontrol/ltc-facility-guidance.htm.

The CDC recommends that all nursing homes take steps to implement antibiotic stewardship activities. They have provided a checklist which nursing home staff can use as a baseline assessment, and periodically thereafter to review progress in expanding stewardship activities on a regular basis (e.g., annually). Over time, facility staff can implement activities for each element in a step-wise fashion. To obtain the checklist for use in your facility, click here: http://www.cdc.gov/longtermcare/pdfs/core-elements-antibiotic-stewardship-checklist.pdf

I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for the high quality education you are providing to nursing leaders across the United States. Dr. Garrett, you are really an incredible Educator and your immense knowledge base is pretty incredible! Thank you for sharing your knowledge, skills and expertise! Your passion for education and the art and science of nursing really shines through. I have always loved infection control, and the webinars have been very helpful. I hope you will be speaking at the upcoming NADONA conference and I look forward to meeting you.

In the past I have attended plenty of seminars about infection prevention, however I have never attended a program with so much useful information!! The speaker was outstanding!!! Thank you!

This is a really good webinar! Hudson is a very talented speaker!

Just want to let you know what an excellent presentation the webinar #1 was!

I have never seen my 2 nurses so engrossed and very thankful that I had included them!  I could just imagine what the next one will be, maybe even better.

The speaker was excellent and his new information like cough etiquette is so useful and I will use it here at work.

The best webinar I have ever attended on Infections, the speaker talks to you like he is a great friend! I learned soo much!

We can’t wait for the rest of the series, number one was incredible!

Thank you, thank you- this is exactly what we needed!

The speaker answered all of the questions thrown at him like he has had the answers
scripted for months! He is very good!
