Robin Nelson

I began my journey in nursing in 1995. I trained to be an LNA at the American Red Cross. My entire career has been in long term care. I worked for 8+ years on the nursing floors on various shifts. In 2004 I was awarded the opportunity to work as an Occupational Therapy Aide, completing maintenance programs and providing non-skilled interventions.

I applied to River Valley Community College to start working on my general education courses, which I hoped would lead me to an acceptance into the Associate Degree in Science in Nursing program. I was indeed accepted and graduated with my degree in May of 2010.

I quickly transitioned from a staff nurse into an MDS nurse. In 2014 I applied for and was granted the Assistant Director of Nursing Services position. In 2018 the Director of Nursing Services moved to another region and I was promoted into the DNS position.

All but one year of my nursing career has been at Maplewood of Cheshire County. I love this nursing home, its residents and the staff. I look forward to serving many years as the DNS.
